Because Mr. Dunham always wanted an opportunity to work with animals, he decided to volunteer at his local animal rescue shelter

on Saturdays. However, there is a requirement that all part-time volunteers work at least one evening a week. He's not sure that he can meet this obligation because he often works late at his job. He hopes that the shelter might make an exception in his case. Underline words - A) opportunity, B) requirement, C) obligation, D)exception

Clarification:

I found the complete instructions for the exercise online:

"Read the paragraph. Click or tap Two underlined words that are synonyms."

Answer:

B and C: requirement and obligation.

Explanation:

To complete the exercise, you have to select the words that are synonyms. The correct answers are<u> "requirement" and "obligation"</u> because a requirement in a job offer is something that is required, that is needed, to get the job, so it is a synonym to obligation, something you are demanded to complete or to accomplish.

Read the passage from The Importance of Being Earnest.
Troyanec [42]

Answer:

“whose origin was a Terminus.“

Explanation:

Paradox is a contradictory assertion itself or contradictory to our expectations.

In the given example, two important words that make this paradox are origin and terminus. Origin, we can say, a start position, a position where something starts or is coming from, or develop from it. Terminus is the end of a bus or a train line, the last station, so generally the outermost point.

Pun is a wordplay that has an intentional humorous effect.

So, the excerpt <em>“whose origin was a Terminus.“ </em>is both paradox and a pun.
