Hammurabi was the 6th Babylonian King in 18th
century BC while Confucius was a Chinese teacher, philosopher and a prophet who
passed away in 479 BC. They are from different times and cultures but there are
striking similarities between their teachings and writings.
Both of them emphasized on the rule of Law, Hammurabi is a
bit straight forward in citing the punishment for a crime while Confucius being
a philosopher quoted it in his teachings, urging people to abide by the rules
and law and giving such a man the title of “Great Man”. In the second example when Confucius is
stressing on family values and taking care of family, he is being straight
forward while Hammurabi when citing the same subject puts is in another way,
for example if someone son has died due to the negligence of a builder, the builder’s
son will be killed. That shows he is stressing on family values also.
And the final and most amazing similarity is the stressing
on Truth, both Hammurabi and Conscious seem uncompromising on this subject.
Answer:
Direct democracy is a form of government where every citizen participates in lawmaking. Some local governments can still use direct democracy today because local governments have a small amount of people, so every citizen can participate in government. National governments and even state governments cannot do this, because they have too many people. Imagine if every person in the US was a lawmaker!
