svp [43]

Answer:

Explanation:

Lower frequency for both dewlap extension and pushups. In the presence of predators and females an increase in the dewlap frequency and pushups is expected as a result of defense and breeding mechanisms mixed while in the second situation we have just breeding mechanisms involved

What are three ways a synthetic polymers affect the environment
nadezda [96]
There are two types of polymers, which are natural and synthetic. Although natural polymers do not affect the environment, synthetic polymers do.Synthetic polymers are anything that is manufactured or influenced by humans. Due to this, these types of polymers release reactants which are hazardous; both to humans and the environment.Synthetic polymers, which include plastics, rubber, How do polymers effect the environment?adhesives, and Styrofoam cannot be degraded into the environment, causing a buildup of these chemicals all at once, causing a release of any "excess" chemicals into the environment. From there on, polymers create garbage loads, and chemical reactants that effect the environment, and spread around. Therefore effecting anything grown or eaten around it. This could call chemical poisoning to the greenery, animals, and living organisms around it. Not all polymers are bad. In fact humans are made up of polymers. But polymers from sources such as crude oil synthesized into plastics release toxins as they break down. When you burn plastics synthesized from crude oil feedstock, carbon dioxide and dioxins can be released into the air if smoke is not properly What are the bad effects of polymers on your environment?filtered as they are in high quality waste-to-energy incinerators. Also plastics are non biodegradable and so landfills are used to bury the plastic this takes up space and also costs money because there is not enough room for all the waste. Therefore plastics are banned in some areas.

Which type of selection tends to increase genetic variation? A. Disruptive selection B. Directional selection C. Stabilizing sel
aliina [53]

Answer:

Which type of selection tends to increase genetic variation? A. Disruptive selection B. Directional selection C. Stabilizing selection

The Answer is option A (Disruptive selection)

Explanation:

Selection can either shift the mean value of a trait, reduce the trait's variation, or increase its variation.

Genetic variation which allows natural selection to increase or decrease frequency of alleles already in the population is a source of phenotypic variation as it refers to differences in all the hereditary information of members of the same species.

Disruptive Selection is important in maintaining variation and initiating speciation as it Increases Variation by favoring alleles corresponding to more extreme phenotypes. But for it to occur, the mean phenotype has to experience the lowest fitness. Disruptive selection affects the frequency distributions of alleles and genotypes within a population.

Disruptive selection is based on the variance of a trait in a population as it increases genetic variance by equalizing the frequencies of existing alleles at polymorphic loci (a genetic loci with two or more alleles). Disruptive selection maintains and may even increase variation in natural populations by favoring extreme phenotypes, individuals with extreme values for a trait have greater reproductive success than individuals with intermediate values.

Organisms that originated in a certain geographic region and can only be found in that region are said to be ____.
aleksklad [387]

Organisms that originated in a certain geographic region and can only be found in that region are said to be endemic.

Explanation:

Endemic organisms are taxonomic species (plants and animals) which originates and distributed only in specific geographic regions. This state of evolution is called endemism.

They are said to be native or indigenous to that particular region which can be an ecological habitat, an entire nation, an island, a mountain range etc. Certain parts are known for majority of their species being endemic like St. Helen Island, New Caledonia Island, Hawaiian Islands, Southern regions of Africa, and Australia.

The species becomes endemic to a particular region because of the presence of certain bio-geographical environmental qualities of that habitat which are favorable to that species.

When these conditions become unfavorable, then species becomes restricted leading to endangerment or extinction of the species.

Examples:

 1. Kangaroo - Australia
 2. Nilgiri Tahr, - Nilgiri Hills, India
 3. The Redwood trees of West Coast of the USA
 4. Plants like kalo, sumac of Hawaii
