Out of thirty states the three most common insects are monarch butterflies, honey bees and lady bugs. The number of states that

have monarch butterflies as their official insect is one more then the number of states that have lady bugs as there official insect. The number of states that have honey bees as their official insect is three times the number of states which lady bugs as their state insect -1.
