Define communicative, associative and distributive property below

Mathematics
1 answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

okay so The commutative property states that the numbers on which we operate can be moved or swapped from their position without making any difference to the answer. The property holds for Addition and Multiplication, but not for subtraction and division.

The associative property states that you can add or multiply regardless of how the numbers are grouped. By 'grouped' we mean 'how you use parenthesis'. In other words, if you are adding or multiplying it does not matter where you put the parenthesis. Add some parenthesis any where you like!.

distribute” means to divide something or give a share or part of something. According to the distributive property, multiplying the sum of two or more addends by a number will give the same result as multiplying each addend individually by the number and then adding the products together.

How can the graph be used to predict the output (y- value) associated with an input of 3 1/2
NNADVOKAT [17]

The method to estimate the y - value from a graph is discussed below.

We have a graph.

We have to estimate how can the graph be used to predict the output (y- value) associated with an input of x = 3\frac{1}{2} = \frac{7}{2} = 3.5

What is a Graph?

A diagram showing the relation between variable quantities, typically of two variables, each measured along one of a pair of axes at right angles.

According to the Question -

Assume that you have a graph plotted for the straight line given by -

y = 2x + 5              ...(1)

(Refer to the figure attached)

The x values are plotted along the horizontal line and the y values are plotted along the vertical axis. You can see in the diagram that for x = 3\frac{1}{2} or 3.5 the corresponding value for y is 6.8. You can repeat the same process for almost any value of x. Similarly, you can find out the value of y without using graph. For x = 5, using Eq (1), we get -

y = 2 x 5 + 5 = 15

Hence, using this way you can predict the y - value for any input.
