Firstly , we will check continuity at x=1

we can use method

Suppose, f(x) is continuous at x=c

then it must satisfy

\lim_{x \to c} f(x)=f(c)

\lim_{x \to 1} f(x)=f(1)

firstly , we can find limit

\lim_{x \to 1-} f(x)= \lim_{x \to 1-}(x+3)=1+3=4

\lim_{x \to 1+} f(x)= \lim_{x \to 1-}(3x+1)=3*1+1=4

so, we get

\lim_{x \to 1} f(x)= 4

now, we can find f(1)

f(1)=3*1+1=4

so, we got

\lim_{x \to 1} f(x)=f(1) =4

so, this is continuous at x=1

Hence , option-D...........................Answer

Please help in math!! Solution needed
Marysya12 [62]
This is the same as any math problem you may have solved before.

First, start by isolating the x on one side. I will choose to keep the coefficient positive, so I will add x to both sides.

6>2x+2

Subtract 2

4>2x

Divide by 2

2>x

Or

x<2

Each of 5 boys randomly chooses a watch from 12 different styles. What is the probability that at least 2 boys choose the same t
aleksley [76]

Answer:

Ok. So we have 12 different styles of watches to choose from, so that means that the total number of combinations of styles for 5 boys is 12*12*12*12*12, since each boy has his pick of 12 options.

The way to answer this question is by way of the complementary rule: We want the number of ways that the boys can all have different styles. So the first boy to pick has 12 options available to him, the second boy has 11 options available to him, the 3rd boy has 10 options available to him, so on and so forth.

So the probability that the boys all have different watches is (12*11*10*9*8)/12^5= .3819.

To find the probability that at least two boys have the same style would just be 1 -.3819 = 6181
