Answer: Equation of line in point slope form,

y + 1 = 5 ( x - 2 )

And, Equation of line in standard form,

5 x - 6 y = 16

Step-by-step explanation:

Since, If a line passes through two points (x_1,y_1) and (x_2,y_2) ,

Then the equation of line,

y-y_1=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1} (x-x_1)

Here x_1 = 2, y_1=-1, x_2=8 and y_2=4

Thus, the equation of the given line,

y-(-1)=\frac{4-(-1)}{8-2} (x-2)

⇒ y+1=\frac{4+1}{8-2} (x-2)

⇒ y+1=\frac{5}{6} (x-2) -----(1)

⇒  6(y+1)= 5(x-2)

⇒ 6 y + 6 = 5 x - 10

⇒ 6 = 5x - 6y - 10 ( By subtracting by on both sides )

⇒ 6 + 10 = 5x - 6y  ( By adding 10 on both sides )

⇒ 16 = 5x - 6y

⇒ 5 x - 6 y = 16 ------(2)

Since, in slope for of a line is, y-y_1= m (x-x_1)

Thus, equation (1) shows the in slope form of the line.

And, standard form of the line is ax + by = c where a, b and c are the integers.

Thus, equation (2) shows the standard form of the given line.

Luda [366]

If the shorter piece is x feet long, the longer piece is 3x+4 feet long, and the total length is

... x + (3x+4) = 36

... 4x = 32 . . . . . . . . simplify, subtract 4

... x = 8

The shorter piece is 8 feet long; the longer piece is 28 feet long.

_____

You can do the math for the longer piece in your head: 36 ft - 8 ft = 28 ft.

Tina had $15.73 • She purchased 3 plastic bracelets for $1.88 each and 1 hair ribbon for $1.23 • There was no sales tax How much
Lady_Fox [76]

Answer:

B. $8.86

Step-by-step explanation:

$1.88 * 3 plastic bracelets = $5.64

$1.23 for one hair ribbon

$5.64 + $1.23 = $6.87

$15.73 - $6.87 = $8.86

_30. Solve the following logarithmic equation: log8(x + 9) + 3 = 3
Bezzdna [24]

Answer:

A

Step-by-step explanation:

using the rule of logarithms

log_{b} x = n ⇒ x = b^{n}

log_{8} (x + 9) + 3 = 3 ( subtract 3 from both sides )

log_{8} (x + 9) = 0 , then

x + 9 = 8^{0} = 1 ( subtract 9 from both sides )

x = - 8
