Roberto, Christopher, and Levi are amateur cyclist riding in the 165.1 km long Tour of Cortez bicycle race. Each cyclist is indi
Naddik [55]

Answer:

 • Levi
 • Christopher
 • Roberto

Step-by-step explanation:

I like to work problems involving repetitive calculations using a spreadsheet. The sort function can easily put the results in the appropriate order.

__

Here, we need to compute minutes and kilometers remaining for each cyclist, and then divide the former by the latter to find the required timing.

Minutes remaining will be the difference between the qualifying time and the time used so far.

Km remaining will be the difference between the race length and the distance traveled so far.

Required minutes per km will be the ratio of minutes remaining to km remaining.

Levi has the least allowed minutes per km for his remaining distance. Roberto has the most.

_____

Christopher only has to increase his average speed by about 5% in order to qualify; Levi has the greatest challenge, as he needs about 18% more speed for the rest of the race.

What is the mean of this set: (2, 6, 7, 9, 9, 9)?
nikdorinn [45]
7, to find the mean add up all the numbers and then subtract by the amount of Humber a you added.

For example, 1,3,8,10 added together is 22. We added four numbers together, so divide by 4. The mean of 1,3,8,10 is 5.5

Find center, foci, and vertices of ellipse (x+3)^2/21+(y-5)^2/25=1
sasho [114]
I don't know if we can find the foci of this ellipse, but we can find the centre and the vertices. First of all, let us state the standard equation of an ellipse.

(If there is a way to solve for the foci of this ellipse, please let me know! I am learning this stuff currently.)

\frac{(x-x_{1})^2}{a^2}+ \frac{(y-y_{1})^2}{b^2}=1

Where (x_{1},y_{1}) is the centre of the ellipse. Just by looking at your equation right away, we can tell that the centre of the ellipse is:

(-3,5)

Now to find the vertices, we must first remember that the vertices of an ellipse are on the major axis.

The major axis in this case is that of the y-axis. In other words,

b^2>a^2

So we know that b=5 from your equation given. The vertices are 5 away from the centre, so we find that the vertices of your ellipse are:

(-3,10)
& (-3,0)

I really hope this helped you! (Partially because I spent a lot of time on this lol)

Sincerely,

Complete the square for 5x^2+10x-16.
first one to answer gets brainiest
ella [17]

Answer: x= -1 + √(21/5)

Step-by-step explanation:

The given equation can be written as 5x^2+10x-16=0

keep the x terms on one side and constant on another side

5x^2+ 10x = 16.

Now, to make a complete square like (x+a)^2 = x^2+2xa+a^2.

Divide the given equation by 5 on both sides,

The equation now becomes x^2+2x = 16/5.

The middle term is 2xa=2x

By solving for term "a" in above equation, a= 1

The entire equation of complete square should be x^2+2x+1, which is equal to (x+1)^2

Here, in the equation given in question, +1 is missing to make a complete square.

In order to add 1 we have to simultaneously minus 1 to keep the values in the equation unchanged.

Thus, x^2+2x+1-1 =16/5.

Again moving the constant -1 to other side, we have

x^2+2x+1 =16/5+1

After simplification,

(x+1)^2= 21/5

Taking square root on both sides,

(x+1)= + √(21/5)

The answer is x= -1 + √(21/5)
