Answer:
3x + 10cm
Step-by-step explanation:
This is calculated as:
Length of Tom's pencil - Length is Ellen's pencil
Length of Tom's pencil: 5x+25cm long.
Length of Ellen's pencil : 2x+15cm long.
(5x + 25)cm - (2x + 15)cm
5x + 25 - 2x - 15
5x - 2x + 25 - 15
3x + 10 cm
Therefore, Tom's pencil is 3x + 10cm longer is than Ellen's.
Hello there!
The answer is C.
I will explain to you how I came to this answer.
•First of all, I counted the turning points. There are two, so that means this polynomial function has THREE roots. (# of turning points+1=number of roots.)
•Next, look to see how many times the function crosses the x-axis. This is the number of REAL solutions. In this case, there is one point at which the f(x) is crossing the x-axis so there is one real solution.
•Since there is one real solution there has to be 2 imaginary roots. (Total # of solutions-real solutions=imaginary solutions)
NOTE: the turning points are where the increasing intervals change to decreasing and the decreasing change to increasing. The first derivative at these points is 0.
I hope this helps!
Best wishes~

I may be wrong but I hope I am not. But one expression is 16 × .15 and another is 16 × 15/100. When multiplying percentages you have to move the decimal that is invisbly behind the last number, two places to the left. The answer you get is the percentage of the price. You would then take the answer and add it to the price. The answer to the multiplication problem is 2.40. You then add the 2.40 to the $16 and that's the new price.
Left one is linear and the one on the right is nonlinear
