Algebra question I don’t get it because you usually have to multiple A by C but there is no C in the problem.

Ok so basically, when you say multiply A by C, that is simplifying.

And in this case, you are factorising in this question. You turn back into brackets basically.

We have:
72x^2 - 32

x^2 = x squared

factorising means finding the factor of.

(Forget the x squared for the moment to make life easier)

Factors of 72:
1 and 72
2 and 36
3 and 24
4 and 18
6 and 12
8 and 9
(9 and 8 = it repeats so we stop there)

And then factors of 32:
1 and 32
2 and 16
4 and 8
(8 and 4 = repeats so we stop there)

Notice how we see 8 twice in both factors of 72 and 32, this means that we use 8 as the main number we are going to multiply each of the 2 numbers in the brackets by. This is because it is the biggest common factor - this is what we have!

This is what we would have:
8(9-4)

BUT, that is not the answer!
Keep in mind we have the x squared too

But, 32 doesn’t have it?!!

It would be:
8(9x^2 - 4)

Do you get it??

Try to simplify it! Does it equal to 72x^2 - 32?

(And I am so very sorry for the long explanation, once you get the hang of it, it makes sense. Hope my explanation helped) :)

A bag contains 3 black balls and 5 white balls. Paul picks a ball at random from the bag and replaces it back in the bag. He mixes the balls in the bag and then picks another ball at random from the bag.

a) Construct a probability tree of the problem.

b) Calculate the probability that Paul picks:

i) two black balls

ii) a black ball in his second draw

Solution:

tree diagram

a) Check that the probabilities in the last column add up to 1.

b) i) To find the probability of getting two black balls, first locate the B branch and then follow the second B branch. Since these are independent events we can multiply the probability of each branch.

ii) There are two outcomes where the second ball can be black.

Either (B, B) or (W, B)

From the probability tree diagram, we get:

P(second ball black)

= P(B, B) or P(W, B)

= P(B, B) + P(W, B)

Bess [88]

Answer:

The equation to describe the situation is  p-3=17.

And, the total weight of the basket of apples was <u>20 pounds</u>.

Step-by-step explanation:

<u><em>The question is incomplete so, the complete question is below:</em></u>

Liang bought a basket of apples to make pies for her friends. The basket of apples weighed p pounds. Before she had time to make the pies, she ate 3 pounds of apples. There are 17 pounds of apples left to make pies. Write an equation to describe this situation. What was the total weight of the basket of apples?

Now, to write an equation to describe the situation. And to find the total weight of the basket of apples.

So, the basket of apples total weighed = p\ pounds.

Liang ate apples weighed = 3 pounds.

And the apples left for the pies weighed = 17 pounds.

Now, to write an equation describing the situation:

p-3=17.

<u><em>Thus, the equation is </em></u>p-3=17.<u><em /></u>

Now, to get the total weight of the basket of apples:

p-3=17\\\\Adding\ both\ sides\ by\ 3\ we\ get:\\\\p=20

<u><em>Hence, the basket of apples total weighed = 20 pounds.</em></u>

Therefore, the equation to describe the situation is p-3=17.

And, the total weight of the basket of apples was 20 pounds.

Thirty-six percent of customers who purchased products from an e-commerce site had orders exceeding 110. If 17% of customers
Dvinal [7]

Answer:

The right solution is "0.5".

Step-by-step explanation:

According to the question,

P(pay with the sponsored credit card | order exceeds $110)

= \frac{P(Pay \ with \ the \ sponsored \ credit\ card\ and\ order\ exceeds\ 110)}{P(order \ exceeds \ 110)}

= \frac{P(A \ and \ B)}{P(A)}

By putting the values, we get

= \frac{0.17}{0.34}

= 0.5

Thus, the above is the right solution.
