The northern economy relied on manufacturing and the agriculture southern economy depending on production of cotton the desire of Southerners for unpaid workers to pick the valuable cotton strengthened their need for slavery the Industrial Revolution is in North did not require a slave labor and so people there oppose that the clash with the war. they disagreed with slavery so they went to war.
