I need help this question?
Masja [62]

Answer:

Correct answer:  F. graph F or x ∈  |-5 ; 5| (including endpoints)

Step-by-step explanation:

Let us first define the absolute value:

| x |  = 1. { x with condition x ≥ 0 }

    or 2. { - x with condition x < 0 }

This is a linear inequality

1.  x ≤ 5  ∧  x ≥ 0   ⇒   0 ≤ x ≤ 5  or interval x ∈  |0 ; 5| (including endpoints)

2. - x ≤ 5  when we multiply both sides of the equation by -1 we get:

x ≥ -5 ∧ x < 0  ⇒  -5  ≤ x < 0 or interval x ∈  |-5 ; 0) (including -5)

The solution to this linear inequality is the union of these two intervals:

x ∈  |-5 ; 0) ∪ |0 ; 5|  ⇒ x ∈ |-5 ; 5| (including endpoints)

x ∈ |-5 ; 5| (including endpoints)

Help please. 20 pts and a mark!!!Flying against the jetstream, a jet travels 5600 miles in 8 hours. Flying with the jetstream, t
Veronika [31]

Answer:

The rate of jet in still air is 850 mile per hour

The rate of jetstream is 150  mile per hour.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given as :

The distance cover against jetstream  = 5600 miles

The time taken against Jetstream = 8 hours

The distance cover with jetstream = 4000 miles

The time taken with the jetstream = 4 hours

Now , let The speed of jet in still air = x  mph

The speed of jetstream = y  mph

As , Speed = \frac{Distance}{Time}

So, According to question

    x - y = \frac{5600}{8}

Or, x - y = 700   mph

    x + y = \frac{4000}{4}

Or,  x + y = 1000 mph

So,  ( x -  y ) + ( x + y ) = 700 + 1000

Or,   2 x = 1700

∴         x = \frac{1700}{2} = 850 mph

And    y = 1000 - 850 = 150   mph

Hence The rate of jet in still air is 850 mile per hour  and The rate of jetstream is 150  mile per hour.   Answer
