Answer:

‘Silent Spring’ and ‘Save the Redwood’ are both beautifully worded stories that both tell the story of human effect and neglect to the environment. The two pieces come from two very different backgrounds of authors, they both capture how clueless and mindless people are when it comes to the treatment of the environment, and they both express so elegantly how nature reacts to these changes. Carson grew up in the 1920’s already seeing the horrors of human deforestation, when he said that “Everywhere was a shadow of death.(Carson 1)”, that Muir talks about during the 1840’s. When Muir says that, “...some millmen want to cut all the Calaveras trees into lumber and money.(Muir, 1)” he is referring to the greed that millmen have towards our natural environment. But when this same topic is brought to light in ‘Silent Spring’, Carson writes, “... no enemy action had silenced the rebirth of new life in this stricken world. The people had done it themselves.(Carson, 1)”. This quote shows what can happen to environments that house people who are completely oblivious to the effects they have. Muir talks about how people are blinded by greed and are careless of their effects, but Carson talks about what can happen when people ignore problems like these. Carson begins to make the reader feel guilty, if they too have been close minded to the natural world around them. Muir says it similarly when he says, “Any fool can destroy trees. They cannot defend themselves or run away(Muir, 3).” Through the two short stories ‘Silent Spring’ and ‘Save the Redwood’, the readers are able to comprehend the cause and effect that can be seen through the time differences. The reader can see how ignorance towards the environment is just as bad as disrespectful as not acknowledging it, and is also able to see the effects it holds.

PLEASE HELP ASAP TIME LIMITWhich sentence is correctly punctuated?
sattari [20]

Answer:

The sentence that is correctly punctuated is the following one: "Let's get going," Ginnie shouted, "it's getting dark!"

Explanation:

The sentence above is a direct quotation. Quotation marks are for when you want to include someone else's words in your own writing. What is more, direct quotations contain a quote in which you report the exact words used.

In this case, the quote has been split. When you split a quote to introduce a parenthetical, you shouldn't  capitalize the second part of the quote example: (it's getting dark!"). Also, the exclamation mark goes inside the quote because it applies to the quoted material, not to the whole sentence. For these reasons, the sentence chosen is the one that is  correctly punctuated.
