Antonio Gramsci adopted the term 'subaltern' to refer to the group of people who were ruled by the authoritarian power. This group of people are not given the rights and powers. The oppressed part of the society were not given the right to speak for their oppression. The indigenous people are denied of their rights by the colonial power. The marginalization of the these people are the result of the lack of their social status.
