Answer:

So I am going to answer this from personal mind and the mind of a charcter with different personality.

Explanation:

For me, the significance of the storm is mystery and iscolation, but at the same time exploration and emtpyness.  It makes you feel excited and interested in the mystery of what will happen in the future.

The snowstorm can compeltly change the theme of a story, and depending on the authors view can fit a theme or transform it.  Depending on the point of the story, and what it is made for, the storm could have different meanings.

In some ways, it could be used as a struggle that shows more about the charcter and how they can persiver and evolve.

In other ways, it can be used as a expansion on the story, or a openning to a new chapter. It can show the reader a new side to the charcter they have never seen before, or it can introduce a new mind or emotion that engulfs the charcter.

This is just what I think about this, everyone has a different mind and will write different things, and with something like a snowstorm which can have endless possibilities and effects, I am sure that everyone will have a different say on this question. This is simply mine.
