The pair are parallel to eachother. The second equation in slope intercept form is y = 3x-3, since they have the same slope they’re parallel.

They are parallel!
When you put 2y=6x-6 into slope intercept form, you get y=3x-3.
They are parallel because they have the same slope.
Perpendicular lines have opposite reciprocal slope. For example, one equation would have a slope of 3 and the second one would have a slope of -1/3.
Hope that makes things more understandable!

The lengths of a rectangle have been measured to the nearest tenth of a centimetre they are 87.3cm and 51.8cm what is the upper
vagabundo [1.1K]

Answer: Area (upper bound) = 4527.7056 cm²

               Perimeter (lower bound) = 278 cm

<u>Step-by-step explanation:</u>

The length and width of the rectangle have been ROUNDED to the nearest tenth. Let's calculate what their actual measurements could be:

LENGTH: rounded to 87.3,  actual is between 87.25 and 87.34

<em>87.25 is the lowest number it could be that would round it UP to 87.3</em>

<em>87.34 is the highest number it could be that would round DOWN to 87.3</em>

WIDTH: rounded to 51.8, actual is between 51.75 and 51.84

<em>51.75 is the lowest number it could be that would round it UP to 51.8</em>

<em>51.84 is the highest number it could be that would round DOWN to 51.8</em>

To find the Area of the upper bound, multiply the highest possible length and the highest possible width:

A = 87.34 × 51.84 = 4527.7056

To find the Perimeter of the lower bound, calculate the perimeter using the lowest possible length and the lowest possible width:

P = 2(87.25 + 51.75) = 278

describe and correct the error a student made in finding the interval(s) over which the function is positive and negative
liraira [26]

Answer:

The interval over which the function is positive is (-1 , 3)

The interval over which the function is negative is (-∞ , -1)∪(3 , ∞)

Step-by-step explanation:

* Lets explain the meaning of The intervals of positive and negative

 values of a function

- Interval of positive values means the values of x when the values

 of y are positive

- Y is positive means the graph is above the x-axis

- Interval of negative values means the values of x when the values

 of y are negative

- Y is negative means the graph is below the x-axis

- <u><em>Remember</em></u> that the value of y on the x-axis is zero, then the points

 of intersection between the graph and x-axis have zero value of y

 and zero is not positive nor negative, then the x-coordinate of

 these points do not belong to the intervals of positive or negative

* <em>Lets solve the problem</em>

∵ The graph represents a downward parabola

∵ The positive value of the parabola is above the x-axis

∵ The parabola intersects the x-axis at -1 , 3

∴ Y is positive at ⇒ -1 < x < 3

# -1 , 3 ∉ to the interval

∴ The interval over which the function is positive is (-1 , 3)

∵ The negative value of the parabola is below the x-axis

∵ The parabola intersects the x-axis at -1 , 3

∴ Y is negative at ⇒ -∞ < x < -1 and 3 < x < ∞

# -1 , 3 ∉ to the interval

∴ The interval over which the function is negative is (-∞ , -1)∪(3 , ∞)

* <u><em>The error of the student he wrote Positive</em></u>: [-1 , 3] which means

  that -1 , 3 ∈ to the intervals over positive

  which the function is positive or negative
