Ana works in the medical records department at a large medical office. Her job includes scanning and uploading medical records i
nto an electronic health record system. Sometimes, Ana uses the work computer to check personal email and shop online; even though office regulations prohibit it. Step 2: Create a new thread and answer all three parts of the initial prompt below:
Explain why Ana’s behavior is a potential threat to the electronic health records.
Describe how Ana’s behavior could affect her employment.
Pretend that you are Ana’s co-worker, what constructive advice would you give Ana about her on-the-job actions?
Ana working in a medical records department means that she must have been briefed on the rules and regulations guiding the work. Also, work ethics must have been passed across to her to ensure effective and efficient work.
Her behaviour of using the office computer for her personal aim could affect her employment leading to the termination of her job. Because, she is bridging the work ethics expected of her to uphold.
Also, her actions is a potential threat to the electronic health records due to hackers being able to access such sensitive information of patients through her. This would lead to the patients being subjected the emotional pain and blackmail by whoever had access to such sensitive medical records.
My advice to Ana would be on the need to reduce the urge to check her mail or do online shopping during office hours. She could do that using her phone and during the 1 hour break given to all staff in the afternoon.
