Describe the Plum Pudding Model of the atom

Biology
1 answer:
Goryan [66]3 years ago
7 0

Answer:Thomson's model showed an atom that had a positively charged medium, or space, with negatively charged electrons inside the medium. Soon after its proposal, the model was called a "plum pudding" model because the positive medium was like a pudding, with electrons, or plums, inside. Thomson developed what became known as the "plum pudding" model in 1904. Plum pudding is an English dessert similar to a blueberry muffin. In Thomson's plum pudding model of the atom, the electrons were embedded in a uniform sphere of positive charge like blueberries stuck into a muffin.

Hope this helps... Stay safe and have a great day!!! :D

The arteries (red) carry oxygen and nutrients away from your heart, to your body's tissues. The veins (blue) take oxygen-poor blood back to the heart. Arteries begin with the aorta, the large artery leaving the heart. They carry oxygen-rich blood away from the heart to all of the body's tissues.

Antisense oligonucleotides are relatively short stretches of nucleotides (usually about 20 nucleotides long) that are likely to
Montano1993 [528]

Answer:

The correct answer is: Gene Therapy.

Explanation:

  • Gene therapy can be defined as a broad biomedical and biotechnological technique by which diseases resulting due to the inheritance of  mutated  or inaccurate gene sequence from the parents or the generation of a sudden mutation in the genome of a person during the course of his life can be prevented.
  • RNAi or RNA interference technology is one of the many techniques used to correct various hereditary or gene related disorders.
  • In this technique, small oligonucleotides of RNA (Ribonucleic acid) of 22 to 24 nucleotides in length are used to bind to the complementary sequence present in the mRNA (messenger RNA) molecules. This results in the generation of double stranded RNA molecules which functions in two ways:
  1. They are recognised by RISC or RNA-induced silencing complexes, having endonuclease activity. The RISC complex cleaves and degrades the target mRNA and hence prevents the formation of the target protein.
  2. The double-stranded RNA molecules stalls the ribosomes and prevent their progression along the mRNA molecules, hence protein synthesis in inhibited.
  • This technique is useful in the following ways:
  1. Cancer often results due to the unregulated activation of the oncogenes which are responsible for promoting uncontrolled growth and division in cells. The use of RNAi can prevent the expression of the onco-proteins which are majorly responsible for causing cancer.
  2. Alzheimer's disease is often caused due to the accumulation of misfolded amyloid beta and tau proteins in the neurons. The RNAi technology can be used to prevent the formation of the improperly folded proteins.
