Answer:

y = 5 ; x = 4

Step-by-step explanation:

Given :

5x + 6y = 50 - - - (1)

x - 6y = -26 - - - (2)

From (2)

x = - 26 + 6y

Put - 26 + 6y for x in (1)

5(-26 + 6y) + 6y = 50

-130 + 30y + 6y = 50

-130 + 36y = 50

-130 - 50 = - 36y

-180 = - 36y

y = 180 / 36

y = 5

Put y =5 in x = - 26 + 6y

x = - 26 + 6(5)

x = - 26 + 30

x = 4

y = 5 ; x = 4

The figure below shows a 39-inch ramp that is attacked to a deck.
Lelu [443]

Answer:

15 inches

Step-by-step explanation:

1. Use the Pythagorean Theorem: a^2+b^2=c^2

You are already given c (the longest side) and one of the legs which could be a or b.

2. Plug the numbers into the formula and square them.

a^2 + 36^2 = 39^2

Squaring the numbers gives you: a^2 + 1,296 = 1,521

3. Subtract 1,296 from both sides and take the square root of the result.

a^2 = 225

\sqrt{225} = 15

Adelle solved the equation 4x/7 - 6 = -20 as shown. Fill in the correct justification for each step.
Stells [14]

From the equation solved, it can be deduced that the value of x will be -5.

How to solve an equation

From the information given, the equation is 4x/7 - 6 = -20. The step to solve it is given below:

4x/7 - 6 = -20

Cross multiply

4x = -20(7 - 6)

4x = -20(1)

4x = -20

Divide both side by 4

4x/4 = -20/4

x = -5

In conclusion, the value of x is -5.
