The spartan men were expected to physically strong , powerful,cunning and educated. The key to spartan nature was excellence in Mind and body. he was expected not to lose temper in battle or to lose his focus as it could risk the lives of his phlanx. Military and discipline ruled a spartan man's life. The military life of a spartan started at age 20 and continued till 60. They were allowed to marry at 20 and at age 30 they became full citizens of  the state. With this status they could stay at home and own slaves to work at their farms. They used to retire at sixty .
