Nady [450]

The event that allowed Collins to pursue her career dreams was

Soon before she finished college, the Air Force started training female pilots.

Explanation:

The space exploration program had been going on for a long time and the man had been to the moon before the NASA thought of training and sending women to the space too.

This changed by the time that Collins graduated which was lucky for her as if it did not happen she would have had to choose a career different from her dreams.

She was chosen for the training program recently started after she graduated and then became one of the contenders for the mission.

Consider the final image of the poem in lines 16-18. How does this image contribute to the theme of the poem? HAMLET 1.3.78
andrey2020 [161]

In this poem by Gary Soto, the author reflects on the feelings that he has for the woman he loves.

The author tells us that he is poor and unimpressive, while the woman is much better than him. However, throughout the poem, he highlights the fact that he wants to be loved and seen by the woman, even if he is not very impressive. The last image he offers in the text is that of a daffodil and wheat. He compares himself to wheat, which is resistant, even if not impressive. On the other hand, while the daffodil is more beautiful, it is weak and often goes unnoticed, ending up destroyed in the mud when the rain comes. The author highlights the fact that his qualities might be less obvious, but they exist, and this should motivate the woman in question to give him a chance.

Which sentences in these excerpts reflect the idea that war affects not only the minds of the combatants but also their physical
seropon [69]
In O'Brien's excerpt those sentences are: In a way, it seemed, he was part of the morning fog, or my own imagination, but there was also the reality of what was happening in my stomach. This sentence evokes a bodily reaction and calls it "the reality". It is not just imagined; it really happens. I tried to swallow whatever was rising from my stomach, which tasted like lemonade, something fruity and sour. It's as if his body has its own way of processing the distressing information. He feels a very specific kind of nausea, triggered by his mental processes.

In Steinbeck's excerpt it's these sentences: In all kinds of combat the whole body is battered by emotion. The ductless glands pour their fluids into the system to make it able to stand up to the great demand on it. They describe a very physical reaction, which is a product of emotional distress. It's as if the body is trying to defend the whole system from detrimental factors.
