Integers are whole numbers with a positive or negative counterparts.

If that doesn't make sense let me make some examples

-4, 100, 9300 would be integers. Using my definition they all have negative or positive counterparts.

-2.3, 7.8888(etc.) 2/3 would not be integers. Even though -2.3 and 7.8888(etc.) have negative/ positive counterparts they are not whole numbers.

• What is Integer?

Integer is a subset of Real Number. It can be broken into these following:

1. Positive Integer
2. Zero
3. Negative Integer

Integer can be any whole numbers. Keep in mind that Integers cannot be fractions, decimal, approximate value, etc. Integers can only be something like 1,2,3,-1,-2,0.

Integers are like Natural or Counting Numbers except they have 0 and negative numbers.

• Positive Integer

Positive Integers are basically a natural or counting number. It starts from 1 to any positive countable infinity. Here is the example of positive integer: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,...

• Zero

Zero is just a number 0. It is between the negative and positive. 0 is neither positive or negative but it is categorized as Zero.

• Negative Integers

Negative Integers are opposite of Positive Integers. The opposite of plus is minus and the opposite of minus is plus. Negative Integers are less than both 0 and Positive Integers. Here is the example: -1,-2,-3,-4,-5,...
