Do you think the American Dream can change over time? Why or why not?
valina [46]

It all depends on which American Dream you're talking about.

When I Google the American Dream, a website defines it as "...the belief that anyone, regardless of where they were born or what class they were born into, can attain their own version of success in a society where upward mobility is possible for everyone."

This isn't true. It just isn't.

In a perfect world, the dream itself doesn't change, but the rules we have in place to keep specific groups of people lower than others do. I personally believe it can't. I do think it is achievable without hard work; specifically if you aren't a minority, and born into a rich family. But, this is just my personal opinion.

Write a letter to your friend and tell him at least three reasons why he should come to your school
Feliz [49]

Answer:

Explanation:

Dear Steven,

I am in the fifth form. Our classroom is on the second floor of the school. There are twenty-one desks in the classroom and two pupils sit at each desk. The teacher’s desk is in the front of the pupils’ desks. The blackboard is on the wall to the left of teacher. The chalk and the duster are in a box near the blackboard. There are four very large windows on the side of the room opposite to the door. We open the windows during the break between lessons. There are portraits on the wall over the blackboard. There are pictures and maps hanging on the walls in the classroom. There are lamps hanging above the desks. In winter it gets dark early so we turn on the light. We begin our lessons at 12.05. We have five lessons a day. We have a short 10-minute break between lessons, but we have a long 20-minute break between the second and third lessons. During the long break we go to the dining-room and have lunch. We finish our lessons at ten minutes past five.

Convey my regards to your parents.

Yours sincerely,

Alex

To support his purpose, Douglass includes words such as "abuse," "barbarity" and "shameless" in this passage of his speech, as explained below.

What is Douglass' purpose?

In his speech "What to the Slave is the Fourth of July," Frederick Douglass has the purpose to lay bare the injustices and inequality in the United States.

In the particular passage we are analyzing here, Douglass accuses the country of being unrivaled when it comes to all the unfairness with which African Americans are treated. To support that, he uses words such as "abuse," "barbarity" and "shameless", which convey his disgust for the actions and attitude of the privileged classes.

With the information above in mind, we can say that Douglass uses the words "abuse," "barbarity" and "shameless" to support his purpose.
