Well it isn't A. I remember being in the states when a news story came across that there was a shooting on parliament hill in Canada. It was reported on every American channel that it was a terrorist attack. I was with relatives at the time and my take on it was (because he was later shot by the Speaker of the House) the guard was probably telling him to get off the grass which the gunman took exception to. Turned out that was exactly what happened. I take very little to be true that the media reports, particularly if it's economics or politics.
I wouldn't take B as my answer either. Sometimes they are just funny, like dogs doing silly things.
C is probably what you are looking for. Even if the news cast is false, it doesn't matter. People seem to be influenced by it, especially now. There's very little thought given to reporting now. No more investigative reporting.
