One is interest.  You need to know the things that interest and motivate you to do things.  Another is what are your skills and abilities.  It’s not enough that you are interested in doing something.  You have to have the right skills and abilities to get the job done.  Then you have to find out if you’re the type of person who tends to be alone or thrives among other people.  That determines how you want to work. Finally you need to know what you want to get out of this line of work.  Is it recognition, high pay, benefits?  Whatever it is, so long as you are happy, then you made the right choice.
