How to get a square root of a given number
bonufazy [111]

Answer:

See below

Step-by-step explanation:

The square root of a number is defined as \pm y=\sqrt[2]{x} where (\pm y)^{2} gives the original number. For example, \sqrt{4}=\pm2 because 2^{2}=2*2=4 and (-2)^{2}=-2*-2=4.

Find the square root of each. If the radicand is not a perfect square, estimate the square
Shkiper50 [21]
First off, the underline underneath means plus or minus, since when you take the square root of something, the answer can be negative or positive at the same time
1. 64 is a perfect square. 8 x 8 = 64, therefore it is +- (plus or minus) 8.

2. 45 is not a perfect square, so you can pull out numbers or plug into a calculator and estimate.
Both answers: Since 45 is divisible by 9 and five, you can break a nine into two threes, therefore pull it out, and since the answer is negative, you get:
-3(5)^0.5 (an exponent of one-half or 0.5 means square root)
If you solve by calculator, the answer is ~= (approximately equal to) -6.72

3. Since 90 is not a perfect square, repeat the previous question. 9 can go into 90, therefore you can pull out two threes and are left with: +-3(10)^0.5
Using the calculator, you get ~= +-9.49

Part A: it is linear because it is not curving and it consists of straight lines.

Part B: in side A it is increasing because it has a positive slope. In side b it is constant because the slope is 0 since it is straight. Finally, side C is decreasing because the slope is negative.

Part C: during side A the ant is crawling out of the hole in 2 seconds. After that, the ant stops for 2 more seconds as shown in side B. Then, he crawls back into the hole as shown by the decrease in distance due to the slope.

Hope this helps!!!

If g(x)=2(x-4), find the value of x if g(x) =20

A. 32
B. 12
C. 14
D. 10
SOVA2 [1]
I think it is 32, bc the value of x is 20 so your problem would look like this; 2 ( (20) - 4 )
