If you had excess chlorine, how many moles of of aluminum chloride could be produced from 25.0 g of aluminum? Express your answe
m_a_m_a [10]

Answer:

A. From 25,0 g of aluminium you will produce 0,927 moles of aluminium chloride

B. From 30,0 g of chlorine gas you will produce: 0,282 moles of aluminium chloride

Explanation:

a. The reaction that you have in this problem is:

3 Cl₂ + 2 Al → 2 AlCl₃

25,0 g of aluminium are:

25,0 ₓ\frac{1mole}{26,98g} = 0,927 moles

As Al:AlCl₃ ratio is 1, from 25,0 g of aluminium you will produce: 0,927 moles of aluminium chloride

b. 30,0 g of chlorine gas are:

30,0 ₓ\frac{1mole}{70,90g} = 0,423 moles of Cl₂

As Cl₂:AlCl₃ ratio is ³/₂:

0,423 moles of Cl₂ ₓ \frac{2 molesAlCl_3}{3 molesCl_2} = 0,282 moles of aluminium chloride

Thus, from 30,0 g of chlorine gas you will produce: 0,282 moles of aluminium chloride

I hope it helps!

For the following reaction, 5.05 grams of copper are mixed with excess silver nitrate. The reaction yields 11.0 grams of copper(
andreyandreev [35.5K]

Answer:

14.9 g is the ideal yield of Cu(NO₃)₂

Explanation:

Reactants for the reaction: Cu and AgNO₃

Products: Copper nitrate and Ag

The balanced reaction is: Cu(s) + 2AgNO₃(aq) → 2Ag (s) + Cu(NO₃)₂

As the silver nitrate is in excess, the Cu will be the limiting reagent.

We convert the mass to moles → 5.05 g . 1 mol/ 63.55 g = 0.0794 moles

Ratio is 1:1, so 0.0794 moles will produce 0.0794 moles of Cupper(II) nitrate. We convert the moles to mass, and that value will be the theoretical yield.

0.0794 mol . 187.55 g /1 mol = of Cu(NO₃)₂

Does a laboratory balance measure mass or weight
kolezko [41]
A balance in a lab measures the weight of a substance or object.
Weight is the mass of the body x the gravitation pull on the mass of the object.

So the mass of the object can be found by dividing the weight by gravitational constant.

The gravitational constant on earth is 1. so if a balance says that a substance weighs 300g then its mass is also 300g on earth because 300/1 = 300.

Hope that helps :)

A gas quickly expands in an isolated environment. During the process, the gas exchanges no heat with its surroundings. The proce
AysviL [449]

Answer:

e. adiabatic process

Explanation:

Adiabatic process -

In the thermodynamic system , an adiabatic process is the one which involves no transfer of mass or heat of the substance , is referred to adiabatic process.

In this process , the temperature need not be constant ,

But only the heat is transferred into or out of the system .

Hence, from the given information of the question,.

The correct option is e. adiabatic process .
