Joel wants to buy a new tablet computer from a store having a 20% off sale on all tablets. The tablet he wants has an original c
earnstyle [38]

Answer:

Joel will have to pay $ 159.60 for the tablet.

Step-by-step explanation:

1. Information given to us to answer the question correctly:

Discount percentage of the tablets = 20%

Original cost of the tablet = $ 190

Sales tax = 5%

2. How much will Joel pay for the tablet? Show your work in your notebook. Remember to use $.

Let's find the discounted price and the sales tax for that price, this way:

Discounted price = Original price - Discount

Discounted price = 190 - (190 * 0.2)

Discounted price = 190 - 38 = 152

Sales tax of the discounted price = 152 * 0.05

Sales tax = 7.60

Joel will have to pay = Discounted price + Sales tax

Joel will have to pay = 152 + 7.60

Joel will have to pay = $ 159.60

The governor of state A earns 50, 440 more than the governor of state B. If the total of their salaries is $283,910, can you fin
WITCHER [35]
Use what we know to make equations in order to solve for each governor's salary.
A=governor of state A
B=governor of state B
A+b=283,910. (Their salaries combined)
A=B+50,440 (A earns 50,440 more than B)
Sub A into the original formula to solve for B
B+50,440+b=283,910
2B=283,910-50,440
2B=233,470
B=116,730
Sub B into the formula that's equal to A
A=B+50,440
A=116,735+50,440
A=167,175
I hope this helps!

tankabanditka [31]

I can't directly tell you the answer, but I can help you for how to do it.

So every single time you want to find the rate of change (slope) label 2 points with x1, y1, x2 and y2. We can use the point-slope form to sind the slope:

y1-y2/x1-x2

And we just need to plug in the point to get the Y intercept.

When the x is 0, the y value will be the y-intercept.

The slope intercept form is: y=Mx+B. M stands for slope and B stand for y-intercept. Just plug the slope and y-intercept in and get the answer.
