To make this easy let covert everything using a LCD.

The LCD of 1/4  1/12 and 1/6  is 12. This becomes...

Tom ate 3/12 of the pizza.
Leftover pizza = 9/12.
Slices were 1/12.
X friends got pizza.
Remaining pizza is 2/12.

if each friend got 1 piece(1/12)....
9/12(Leftovers) - 2/12(remaining)  = 7/12

So 7 friends got pizza.

Write an equation for a parabola in which the set of all points in the plane are equidistant from the focus and line F(-6,0); x=
Bogdan [553]

Step-by-step explanation:

Since we have a vertical directrix, the equation of the parabola is

(y - k) {}^{2} = 4p(x - h)

Where p is the distance from the vertex to the directrix.

or the distance from the vertex to the focus.

Since we have a sideways parabola, let use the point for the directrix is (-6,0). So let find the midpoint of (-6,0) and (6,0). That would be our vertex.

\frac{ - 6 + 6)}{2} = 0

\frac{0 + 0}{2} = 0

So our vertex is (0,0).

So our equation become

{y}^{2} = 4px

The distance from the focus and directrix is 6.

So p=6.

{y}^{2} = 24x

So p is 6.

Since p is 6,

\frac{ {y}^{2} }{24} = x

The lengths of the sides of a triangle are given below. Classify the triangle as acute, obtuse, or right.
enot [183]

Answer:

  • B. Obtuse Triangle

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Use Pythagorean to identify if the triangle is right:</u>

  • 9² = 7² + 3²
  • 81 = 58

We see the triangle is <u>not </u>right and the difference of the squares tells us the angle opposite to side with measure of 9 is greater than 90°.

It means the triangle is <u>obtuse</u>.

Correct choice is B

1. find the equation of the circle with center at (-3,1) and through the point (2,13)
daser333 [38]
Try this solution:
Common view of the equation of the circle is (x-a)²+(y-b)²=r², where point (a;b) is centre of the circle, r - radius.
1. using the coordinates of the centre and point (2;13) it is possible to define the radius of the circle: r=√(5²+12²)=13;
the equation is (x+3)²+(y-1)²=13² or (x+3)²+(y-1)²=169;
2. using the coordinates of the centre and the radius: (x-2)²+(y-4)²=6² or (x-2)²+(y-4)²=36.
