At the time of the Communist Revolution in Russia during WW1 the Russian population was upset with the way the monarchy was governing. Many were still in poverty and dying of starvation and Russia was not the most industrialized nation. Communism promised the Russian people for the share of wealth, land, and bread. Lenin would also take Russia out of WW1 by signing an armistice with the Germans in 1918.
