There are some aspects; both of the areas known as Hawaii and California get earthquakes, and they are both in the Ring of Fire. Hawaii is on a volcanic island chain, which has volcanoes, yet the eruptions are subtle. California, on the other hand, doesn't have volcanoes, yet is prone to more earthquakes than Hawaii. If it was my choice, I would move to Hawaii. Nice weather and people beats out the earthquakes and volcanoes.
