Act 1 Scene 1 of the play "Hamlet" introduces the audience with a ghost. The presence of ghost which looked similar to the appearance of the Old King represented a depth meaning altogether. The ghost symbolized death and darkness that the play would bring in its later part. The guards witnessed the ghost that had features similar to the Old King. Foreshadowing helps the writer to make the reader aware of any event upcoming in the play.
