The central idea of the text is that Luis Contreras perceive that he didn't had the opportunity to live an ordinary childhood, but he appreciate what his parents did to support his family and ensure their survival. Luis Contreras explains how their life was as a migrant worker, and how their childhood was spent working on ranches, moving from one place to other, and not having an opportunity to go to school.
