Which form of the law of conservation of energy describes the motion of the block when it slides from the top of the table to th
Mnenie [13.5K]

By definition we have that the energy at the top of the ramp is equal to the energy at the bottom of the ramp. This is due to the principle of energy conservation.

We have then:

E1 = E2

The energy at the top is only potential energy:

E1 = mgh

Where,

  • <em>m: mass </em>
  • <em>g: acceleration of gravity </em>
  • <em>h: vertical height of the ramp </em>

The energy when it falls is transformed into kinetic energy and therefore:

E2 = \frac {1} {2} mv ^ 2

Where,

  • <em>v: object speed. </em>

Therefore we have:

mgh = \frac {1} {2} mv ^ 2

Answer:

The potential energy is transformed into kinetic energy.

mgh = \frac {1} {2} mv ^ 2

Calculate the wavelengths of the first five members of the Lyman series of spectral lines, providing the result in units Angstro

Answer:

Explanation:

The formula for hydrogen atomic  spectrum is as follows

energy of photon due to transition from higher orbit n₂ to n₁

E=13.6 (\frac{1}{n_1^2 } - \frac{1}{n_2^2})eV

For layman series n₁ = 1 and n₂ = 2 , 3 , 4 ,   ...   etc

energy of first line

E_1=13.6 (\frac{1}{1^2 } - \frac{1}{2 ^2})

10.2 eV

wavelength of photon = 12375 / 10.2 = 1213.2 A

energy of 2 nd line

E_2=13.6 (\frac{1}{1^2 } - \frac{1}{3 ^2})

= 12.08 eV

wavelength of photon = 12375 / 12.08 = 1024.4 A

energy of third line

E_3=13.6 (\frac{1}{1^2 } - \frac{1}{4 ^2})

12.75 e V

wavelength of photon = 12375 / 12.75 = 970.6 A

energy of fourth line

E_4=13.6 (\frac{1}{1^2 } - \frac{1}{5 ^2})

= 13.056 eV

wavelength of photon = 12375 / 13.05 = 948.3 A

energy of fifth line

E_5=13.6 (\frac{1}{1^2 } - \frac{1}{6 ^2})

13.22 eV

wavelength of photon = 12375 / 13.22 = 936.1 A

What did Thomson contribute to the model of atom
Ganezh [65]
<h3><u>Answer;</u></h3>

<em>Electrons </em>

<h3><u>Explanation;</u></h3>
  • <em><u>Thomson contributed to the model of an atom by discovery of </u></em><em><u>electrons </u></em><em><u>and thus proving the existence of sub-atomic particles in an atom. </u></em>
  • <u><em>Thomson used cathode ray tube, and demonstrated that cathode rays were negatively charged.</em></u> According to his model normally known as the plum pudding in which he stated that an atom is composed of electrons as subatomic particles that are surrounded by positive charges to balance the electrons.

allsm [11]

If it’s loud enough for your family to hear it, it’s best you turn it down. It could cause permanent damage to your ear drums if it’s loud enough and you could start to lose your hearing. So if your family were to tell you to turn it down, you should probably just turn it down!
