What are your views on drug testing in the workplace?

On questions like these regarding ethical issues, you should consider both the for and against arguments. Your ending conclusion does not matter as long as you show that you’ve considered both sides of the argument. For example, you could say that it’s not right because it is an invasion of privacy and that the drugs aren’t used intentionally to enhance performance or to lead to bias like in athletic competition. However it can be appropriate because use of drugs is illegal. The use of it can lead to dangers to one’s wellbeing and since it occurred at work where machinery might be in use, the workplace can be taken to be responsible for failing to take care of employees. And then conclude it with whether you feel it is right or wrong.

Which of the following events occurs during Meiosis I? The number of chromosomes increases from the haploid number to the diploi
BlackZzzverrR [31]

Answer:

Homologous chromosomes are separated from each other.

Explanation:

In meiosis I during metaphase, all the homologous chromosomes of the cell pair up and get arranged near equatorial plate. Subsequently after completion of meiosis I, these  homologous chromosomes get separated from each other so that out of the two cells which are produced after meiosis I could get one chromosome each from the homologous pair. During anaphase I of meiosis I, spindle fibres are formed which drag each of these homologous chromosomes towards two opposite poles. Soon after that, cytokinesis occurs during telophase I of meiosis I leading to the generation of two cells.

For example, humans have 46 chromosomes or 23 pairs of homologous chromosomes. After completion of meiosis I, two cells are produced and each one of them has 23 chromosomes.

Identify Structure D. The cell membrane. Each letter marks a definite structure of the membrane. Letter A marks the structure re
Anestetic [448]

Answer:

b. phospholipid bilayer of membrane

Explanation:

The phospholipid bilayer evidently has in its structure mainly phospholipids, alcohol compounds and fatty acids.

Each molecule in the membrane phospholipid bilayer has two heads and a tail, both heads being hydrophilic (having affinity for water) and the tail being hydrophobic (having no affinity for water, and therefore repelling it).

This structure, with the heads, which are hydrophilic facing the intracellular and extracellular environments of cells, thus prevents the passage of polar compounds.

The operon model describes how bacteria control the production of groups of enzymes. In this model, synthesis of the messenger R
a_sh-v [17]

1. A(n) operon ______ is a stretch of DNA consisting of an operator, a promoter, and genes for a related set of proteins, usually making up an entire metabolic pathway.

An operon is often define as a functioning unit of DNA which contains cluster of genes that are together transcribed and controlled.

2. The genes of an operon ______ is/are arranged sequentially after the promoter.

These genes are transcribed together into an mRNA. After that they can be translated together or that mRNA can be spliced into monocistronic mRNAs that are translated separately.

3. A(n) promoter _______ is a specific nucleotide sequence in DNA that binds RNA polymerase, positioning it to start transcribing RNA at the appropriate place.

This sequence of DNA is necessary for gene expression since it initiates transcription.

4. A(n) regulatory gene ______ for a protein, such as a repressor, that controls the transcription of another gene or group of genes.

Regulatory gene is gene that encodes for the regulatory proteins such as repressors or activators.

5. Regulatory proteins bind to the operator ______ to control expression of the operon.

For example, operator is a segment of DNA to which a repressor binds and negatively controls gene expression.

6. A(n) repressor ______ is a protein that inhibits gene transcription. In prokaryotes, this protein binds to the DNA in or near the promoter.

Repressor is a DNA-binding molecule (protein) with regulatory role: it can inhibit the expression of one or more genes.

7. A(n) inducer ______ is a specific small molecule that binds to a bacterial regulatory protein and changes its shape so that it cannot bind to an operator, thus switching an operon on.

An inducer is a molecule that regulates gene expression by binding to repressors or activators: prevents the repressor from binding to the operator or helps activator binding to DNA.

What happens to the process of succession after a volcanic irruption?
Rzqust [24]

Answer:

Lava from a volcanic eruption hardens into bare rock. Primary succession begins with soil formation. The first stage of succession involves pioneer species. In primary succession, pioneer plants are those that can grow without soil, such as lichens.
