\frac{3}{4}  +  \frac{1}{3}x = 6

Multiply both sides of the equation by 12

9 + 4x = 72

Move constact to the right-hand side and chancge it's sign.

4x = 72 - 9

Subtranct the numbers

4x = 63

Divide both sides the equation by 4

Solution:

x =  \frac{63}{4}

Alternate Form:

x = 15 \frac{3}{4} x = 15.75

If there are 42 boys and 54 girls in a room, fill out all of the possible
Setler79 [48]

Answer:

21:27 and 14:18

Step-by-step explanation:

We can solve this by using common factors

one of the common factors of 54 and 42 is 3

42/3=14

54/3=18

so one of the ratios is 14:18

another common factor is 2

42/2=21

54/2=27

so another ratio is 21:27

The average height of students at UH from an SRS of 12 students gave a standard deviation of 2.5 feet. Construct a 95% confidenc
Vanyuwa [196]

Answer:

c. [1.771;4.245] feet

Step-by-step explanation:

Hello!

The variable of interest is

X: height of a student at UH

X~N(μ;σ²)

You have to estimate the population standard deviation using a 95% confidence interval.

The statistic to use for the interval is a student Chi-Square with n-1 degrees of freedom. First you have to calculate the CI for the population variance:

[\frac{(n-1)S^2}{X^2_{n-1;1-\alpha /2}} ;\frac{(n-1)S^2}{X^2_{n-1;\alpha /2}} ]

X^2_{n-1;1-\alpha /2}= X^2_{11;0.975}= 21.920

X^2_{n-1;\alpha /2}= X^2_{11;0.025}= 3.816

n=12

S= 2.5

[\frac{11*6.25}{21.920} ;\frac{11*6.25}{3.816}} ]

[3.136; 18.016] feet²

Then you calculate the square root of both limits to get the CI for the population standard deviation:

[√3.136; √18.016]

[1.771;4.245] feet

I hope this helps!
