Answer:

Finding square roots of of numbers that aren't perfect squares without a calculator

1. Estimate - first, get as close as you can by finding two perfect square roots your number is between.

2. Divide - divide your number by one of those square roots.

3. Average - take the average of the result of step 2 and the root.

4. Use the result of step 3 to repeat steps 2 and 3 until you have a number that is accurate enough for you.

Example: Calculate the square root of 10 () to 2 decimal places.

1. Find the two perfect square numbers it lies between.

Solution:

32 = 9 and 42 = 16, so  lies between 3 and 4.

2. Divide 10 by 3. 10/3 = 3.33 (you can round off your answer)

3. Average 3.33 and 3. (3.33 + 3)/2 = 3.1667

Repeat step 2: 10/3.1667 = 3.1579

Repeat step 3: Average 3.1579 and 3.1667. (3.1579 + 3.1667)/2 = 3.1623

What’s seven less than the product of 5 and a number is 9 translated into a equation?
zhenek [66]

Answer: 5x - 7 = 9

Explanation:

Let's think the unknown number as, "x"

Product means multiplication so 5 multiply the unknown number which is 5x. Seven less mean's to subtract so 5x - 7. And then the result is 9. So 5x - 7 is 9 or 5x - 7 = 9.

Sorry for not providing enough explanation last time. But I hope this is enough-

Please help, and if you can please explain! :D
uranmaximum [27]
If you divide the numerator by the denominator using a calculator, you will be able to see the values in a more numerical fashion and organize them from there.

for example, for part a,
3 divided by 5 = 0.6
1 divided by 6 = 1.666
2 divided by 3 = 0.666

meaning your answer would be 3/5, 2/3, and 1/6 if arranged in increasing order.

b) 1/3, 1/2, 5/7

c) 1/5, 3/4, 7/8

d) 1/2, 2/3, 7/10, 4/5

e) 1/2, 2/3, 5/6, 8/9

f) 2/5, 1/2, 7/10, 3/4

Complete the pattern<br> 5,10,30,60,180,__
nalin [4]

Hi!

If the pattern starts off with 5 going to 10, then that would be multiplying by 2. Then, from 10 to 30 would be multiplying by 3. From 30 to 60 would be 2, and 60 to 180 would be 3. So, the pattern is multiply by 2, then multiply by 3, then by 2, then by 3, and so on. So, if we multiply 180 by 2, we get 360, the answer.

Hope this helps!
