What was the role of enslaved people (slaves) in the Roman Republic?

Answer:

Explanation:

Slavery in ancient Rome played an important role in society and the economy. Besides manual labour, slaves performed many domestic services and might be employed at highly skilled jobs and professions. ... Slaves were considered property under Roman law and had no legal personhood. Most slaves would never be freed. One major source of slaves had been Roman military expansion during the Republic. The use of former enemy soldiers as slaves led perhaps inevitably to a series of en masse armed rebellions, the Servile Wars, the last of which was led by Spartacus. During the Pax Romana of the early Roman Empire (1st–2nd centuries AD), the emphasis was placed on maintaining stability, and the lack of new territorial conquests dried up this supply line of human trafficking. To maintain an enslaved workforce, increased legal restrictions on freeing slaves were put into place. Escaped slaves would be hunted down and returned (often for a reward). There were also many cases of poor people selling their children to richer neighbours as slaves in times of hardship.

Because of a rare type of fungus that killed off many cacao trees in Brazil, there was an unusually meager harvest of cacao bean
Arlecino [84]

Answer:

The statement that weakens the above argument is that most chocolate in stores is manufactured from Kuku that was purchased two years earlier.

Option: (E)

Explanation:

 • It is clear from the narration of the case that it is being expected that the price of cocoa would rice in the next six months.
 • But the statement that clarifies that the chocolates in stock now are manufactured from the cocoa that was purchased two years earlier simply ascertains the possibility that there is a stock of cocoa now left that would last for another two years.
 • This possibility defies the argument stated in the narration.

A psychological perspective or attitude which should exist on the part of anyone contemplating a work of art is called _________
professor190 [17]

Answer:

Aesthetic Distance

Explanation:

Artists will often portray fictional, mythical, and also reality-based scenarios but it is the attitude they generate with their artwork that enables viewers to separate their life issues and come to a new dimension.

This attitude or experience when someone is captivated by a work of art, like when watching an opera or a play in theatre where the person loses conscious of her life for a time and sets apart reality in a fiction or different reality that the artist is trying to portray.

In a work of art, the narrative being capable of mark a distance and set the person apart into a magical world where other possibilities of reality exist is then called aesthetic distance.
