The Second Great Awakening was a religious revival that started on the United States in the late 1790s until the 1830s. It sought to address injustice and promote democratic ideals. This movement had a great impact on American society since they advocated for anti-slavery movement, women’s rights to suffrage and religion freedom. Therefore, option 4) “a movement beginning in the late 1700s that emphasized democratic ideals” is the correct one.
Option 2) is incorrect since the statement refers to the First Great Awakening that started in the 1730s.
Option 1) and 3) do not reflect the Second Great Awakening purposes.

The first event is the Korean war.
The North Korean communist forces wanted to take South Korea and unite the country under communism. The United States organized a United Nations operation to stop this because they feared that fall of Korea could spread throughout all of Asia. They managed to beat back the North Korean forces before China interfered when UN attacked northern territories.
The second is the Vietnam war

However, the United States had to leave Vietnam and it fell to communism which then spread to Cambodia and Laos. This sparked mass fear in the United States.
The third can be the Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan

Local nationalists organized a rebellion in order to overturn the government and install a Mujaheddin government. The Soviets were defeated and the Afghan war ended later with Mujaheddin winning.
