Semira’s puppy weighs 12.4 pounds and is growing at a rate of 0.8 pound per week. Cedric’s puppy weighs 9.2 pounds and is growin

g at a rate of 1.2 pounds per week. Let x represent the time in weeks and y represent the weight of the puppy in pounds. Which system of equations can Semira and Cedric use to determine after how many weeks their puppies will weigh the same?
{y=0.8x+12.4
{y=1.2x+9.2

{y=12.4x+0.8
{y=9.2x+1.2

{y=0.8x+1.2
{y=12.4x+9.2

{y=1.2x+0.8
{y=9.2x+12.4

We know the opposite side (10) and the adjacent side (7), so we can use tangent to find angle B.  Since tan = opposite side/adjacent side, we can set up this equation: tan(B) = 10/7.  We can get B on its own by making the equation this: B = tan^{-1} (10/7)

Now, we plug this into our calculator to get:

B = 55°, so angle B is 55°.

Consider M, N, and P. collinear points on MP.
Kobotan [32]

Answer:

See explanation

Step-by-step explanation:

There are three possible cases:

1. Point N lies between M and P, then MN + NP = MP. Consider needed difference:

\dfrac{MN}{NP}-\dfrac{MN}{MP}=\dfrac{MN}{NP}-\dfrac{MN}{MN+NP}=\dfrac{MN(MN+NP)-MN\cdot NP}{NP(MN+NP)}=\\ \\=\dfrac{MN^2+MN\cdot NP-MN\cdot NP}{NP(MN+NP)}=\dfrac{MN^2}{NP(MN+NP)}

2. Point N lies to the right from point P, then MP + PN = MN.  Consider needed difference:

\dfrac{MN}{NP}-\dfrac{MN}{MP}=\dfrac{MP+PN}{NP}-\dfrac{MP+PN}{MP}=\dfrac{MP}{NP}+1-1-\dfrac{NP}{MP}=\dfrac{MP^2-NP^2}{NP\cdot MP}

3. Point N lies to the left from point M, then NM + MP = NP. Consider needed difference:

\dfrac{MN}{NP}-\dfrac{MN}{MP}=\dfrac{MN}{MN+MP}-\dfrac{MN}{MP}=\dfrac{MN\cdot MP-MN(MN+MP)}{MP(MN+MP)}=\\ \\=\dfrac{MN\cdot MP-MN^2-MN\cdot MP}{MP(MN+MP)}=\dfrac{-MN^2}{MP(MN+MP)}

What is the equation of the line, in point-slope form, that goes through (-2,-1) and is perpendicular to y=5x+3?
Lemur [1.5K]

The correct answer is B. y + 1 = -1/5 (x + 2)

I got B by putting the numbers in point-slope form which is y - y1 = m ( x - x1 ) so I got:     y + 1 = m ( x + 2 )

Then to find m(the slope) I knew if the slope was 5 it would be parallel to y=5x+3 so therefore -1/5 would be perpendicular to the line y=5x=3.

Hope that helps!!

Please help in need of an answer can you please break it down
MissTica
I’m pretty sure it would be B because he lost 65 dollars in the beginning and now he’s losing 18 dollars every week. If it’s not B tho then it would be C because he’s losing the 18 dollars every hour.
