A researcher is designing an experiment to determine whether the production of amylase increases when a person anticipates eatin

g starchy food. She measures the amount of amylase in the saliva of 10 volunteers who are offered a bowl of pasta and of 10 other volunteers who are offered a bowl of scrambled eggs. In analyzing her data, she finds some variation in the amount of amylase among the samples within each group, but no significant difference in the amount of amylase between the two groups. She concludes that she needs to revise her experimental design and try her experiment again. What would be the best thing she could do to improve her experiment?
Answer
Add at least 30 more volunteers to the group presented with bowls of pasta and keep the number of volunteers in the scrambled egg group the same.
Allow one group of volunteers to smell a bowl of pasta while the other group only thinks about it and then test the amount of amylase produced by the two groups.
Measure the amount of amylase produced at the sight of a cracker by each volunteer who has just eaten a bowl of pasta.
Test the variation in the amount of amylase produced by each individual before and after being presented with a bowl of pasta.

Answer:

The correct answer will be option-Test the variation in the amount of amylase produced by each individual before and after being presented with a bowl of pasta.

Explanation:

In the given question, the scientist wants to study the increase in the amount of the starch digesting enzyme called amylase after eating the starchy food.

Scientist designed the experiment and measured the amount of amylase of the volunteers after eating the food.  But this could lead to the error in the data as the scientist has not measured the initial amount of amylase of each volunteer before eating as the before values can act as a reference and the result values can be compared.

Thus, the selected option is the correct answer.

D. Plagiarism

Explanation - Plagiarism is the illegal use of the content of another writer without the citation. While writing a research paper, the author must make sure not to directly copy the content or data from the research papers.

If any idea is taken from other research paper then the citation or references should be given. There is a particular percentage of plagiarism allowed. Mostly it is not more than 10%. The manuscript will be rejected if the percentage of plagiarism is high.

Alex17521 [72]
Cell is the structural and functional unit of life. It has various components that are important for its survival such as plasma membrane, mitochondria, endoplasmic membrane, nucleus, golgi body, etc.

Answer: At a minimum, for a cell to be alive, it must contain the following organelles:
1. Plasma membrane: It is the covering of the cell that is selectively permeable.
2. Nucleus: It contains genetic material which is important for DNA replication.
3. Mitochondria: It is the power house of the cell that synthesizes ATP.

What is metagenomics? What is metagenomics? the sequencing of only the most highly conserved genes in a lineage the sequencing o
mel-nik [20]

Answer:

The correct answer will be option-sequencing DNA from a group of species from the same ecosystem

Explanation:

Metagenomics is the molecular genetic tool used by the molecular biologists in studying the DNA samples of the uncultured organisms.

The metagenomics involves the collected samples of the environment directly sharing the same ecology. This involves the collection of samples of multiple organisms at the same time as the case of microorganism and then differentiating the DNA samples.

The technology provides an advantage over genomics and used by the environmentalist and microbiologist mostly.

Thus, the selected option is the correct answer.
