mass hysteria can be defined as, collective obsessional behavior that transmits collective illusions of threats, whether real or imaginary as a result of rumors and fear. The Salem Witch Trials was a period of time when more than 200 people were accused of being "witches". 30 were found guilty, 19 of the thirty were hung. The Salem witch trials was caused by an illusion of threats that didn't actually exist and many people were affected.
