There are several ways you can solve this problem if you're trying to solve for m and n. You can substitute, or systems of equations. However, I'm going to use substitution:

2m + n = 0 => n = -2m

We can input that in for the other equation:

m + 2n = 3 now becomes: m + 2(-2m) = 3

Now we can solve:

m + 2(−2m) = 3

m + −4m = 3

(m + −4m) = 3 (Combine Like Terms)

−3m=3

m = -1

Now we can input that value in to solve for n:

We said that n = -2m, and m = -1, so n = -2(-1):Answer:

n = 2

Your final answer is m = -1, and n = 2, which can also be written as (m,n) = (-1,2)

----------------------

However, if you were solving for m+n:

You would add the two equations!:

2m + n = 0

m + 2n = 3

----------

3m + 3n = 3

Now, you can take 3 common:

3(m+n) = 3

m + n = 1

Your final answer for what m + n equals 1!

550 tickets were sold for a game for a total of $712.50. If adult tickets sold for $1.50 and children's tickets sold for $1.00,
EastWind [94]

9514 1404 393

Answer:

  • adult: 325
  • children's: 225

Step-by-step explanation:

It usually works well to let a variable represent the higher-value item in the mix. Here, we can let 'a' represent the number of adult tickets sold. Then the total revenue is ...

  1.50a +1.00(550 -a) = 712.50

  0.50a = 162.50 . . . . . . . . . . . . . subtract 550 and collect terms

  a = 325

  c = 550 -325 = 225

325 adult and 225 children's tickets were sold.

Write parametric equations of the line 2x-y=3
dangina [55]
In this item we are given with the equation, 2x - y = 3. The equation contains two variables, x and y. We assume in this item that the value of x is independent of the value of y; however, y values depends on the given values of x. In parametric form, the equation would take the form,

    f(x) = y = ax + b

where a is the numerical coefficient of x and b is constant. Transforming the given equation to this form,

   f(x)  = y = 2x - 3

Pls help me with this
LiRa [457]

Answer:

In this order from top to bottom, you get -12, -8, 0, 6, and 8

Step-by-step explanation:

You simply plug in the X value into each equation where it is needed.

So for the first one

2(-5)-2 = -10-2 = -12

2(-3)-2 = -6-2 = -8

2(1)-2 = 2-2 = 0

2(4)-2 = 8-2 = 6

2(5)-2 = 10-2 = 8
