Hello! I'm happy to help!

To solve this expression, we need to use the order of operations, or PEMDAS.

PEMDAS stands for Parenthesis, Exponents, Multiplication or Division, and Addition or Subtraction.

We go in this order, but in the case we have both multiplication and division, or both addition or subtraction, we work from left to right.

First, we see if we have parenthesis, which we do.

54+4(34−12)2

We solve the parenthesis first, but, both the 2 and 4 are right next to the parenthesis without a sign, which means multiplication.

54+4×(34−12)×2

Inside the parenthesis we have the problem 34-12, which is 22.

54+4×(34−12)×2

54+4×(22)×2

We can remove the parenthesis now that there isn't a problem inside of them.

54+4×22×2

54+4×22×2

Next we check if we have any exponents, which look like this: x²

We have none, so we move onto multiplication or division. We have some multiplication, so we solve that going from left to right.

54+4×22×2

54+88×2

54+88×2

54+176

54+176

Now we look for addition or subtraction. We have one addition problem, so we solve that.

54+176

230

230

We have no more operations, so this problem is fully simplified to 230.

I hope this was helpful, keep learning! :D

Factor completely: −4x2 + 16x − 24
mr_godi [17]
First, you need to see which number all of these numbers have in common, and that is number 4. So, let's start:

-4(x2 - 4x + 6)

The expression in the brackets cannot be factored further, which means that the answer above is the complete factor of the original expression. Hope it helps. :)
