Civil Rights are important because they help maintain equality, freedom and liberty for all citizens in a nation. Civil Rights apply to most domains and institutions in society including education, employment, housing, etc. An example of civil rights is equal employment opportunities for people despite their gender, ethnicity, religion or sexual orientation. </span>
