Step-by-step explanation:

(i) We know that x = r\cos{\theta}\:\text{and}\:y = r\sin{\theta}. So we can write the given equation as

r^2\cos^2\theta - r^2\sin^2\theta = 5

\Rightarrow r^2(\cos^2\theta - \sin^2\theta) = 5

r^2 = \dfrac{5}{(\cos^2\theta - \sin^2\theta)}

\:\:\:\:\:=\dfrac{5}{\cos{2\theta}} = 5\sec{2\theta}

(ii) Recall that

\cot{\theta} = \dfrac{\cos{\theta}}{\sin{\theta}}

\csc{\theta} = \dfrac{1}{\sin{\theta}}

so we can write <em>r</em><em> </em>as

r = 8\cot{\theta}\csc{\theta}

\:\:\:\:= 8\left(\dfrac{\cos{\theta}}{\sin{\theta}}\right)\left(\dfrac{1}{\sin{\theta}}\right)

\:\:\:\:= 8\left(\dfrac{x}{y}\right)\!\left(\dfrac{r}{y}\right) = \dfrac{8xr}{y^2}

Upon simplification, we get

y^2 = 8x

Sphinxa [80]

Answer:

I'm not entirely sure but I think that what is says is that it wants you to find the value of x in (4x+28) to make it 116 degrees because it is that same angle. So what you do is you get (4x+28)=116 and you do this because they are the same angle so you use 116 and get it to solve x. Since I'm lazy, then I go to this website and type the equation in: m a t h w a y . c o m but without all of the spaces, I had to do that so it would let me answer this, but I'll do it the real way this time. (4x+28)=116  Their is a rule in math that as long as you do something to one side of the equal sign in the equation, you have to do it to the other and it will still work. So, you minus 28 from both sides so that you can get rid of it and you now have 4x=88. Now you should know this part but you divide 4 from both sides to make so x is alone. Now you have x=22 because you divided 4 from each side. So their is your answer: x=22.

Step-by-step explanation: If you have the answer key that you can check from to make sure you got it right because I know some teachers let you do that, then you should make sure that is right, but I am pretty sure it is.

[Help Asap, Will Mark Brainliest] Question is in the image.
Mazyrski [523]

Answer:

y = 30

z = 115

Step-by-step explanation:

z° + 65° = 180°

(Exterior Angles on the same side of transversal)

z° = 180° - 65°

z° = 115°

z = 115

(5y - 85)° + z° = 180°

(Linear pair angles)

(5y - 85)° + 115° = 180°

(5y - 85)° = 180° - 115°

(5y - 85)° = 65°

5y - 85 = 65

5y = 65 + 85

5y = 150

y = 150/5

y = 30

What is 2/3 divided by 1/2
Karo-lina-s [1.5K]
If you would like to divide 2/3 by 1/2, you can do this using the following step:

2/3 / 1/2 = 2/3 * 2/1 = 4/3 = 1 1/3

The correct result would be 1 1/3.

Find the area of the figure. (Sides meet at right angles.) <br>
ikadub [295]

Answer:

44ft^2

Step-by-step explanation:

Break the shape into 3 rectangles, two 3 by 2's and one 4 by 8. (Get 4 by subtracting 3 from 7 for the left and right most side)

3 x 2 = 6 ft^2

since there's two rectangles you end up 6 + 6 so you get 12 ft^2

then 4 x 8 = 32 ft^2

add 32 and 12, get 44 ft^2
