sertanlavr [38]

The first reason is money-saving; if goods were obtained directly from the source, they would cost less. Second, They would not be reliant on the whims and prices of a second party, thereby eliminating a monopoly on middle eastern goods.</span>

Why was slave labor so important to the economy of the Southern colonies?
sesenic [268]
A, Slaves provided much of the labor on plantations that grew cash crops would be the answer I would go with. Most slaves worked in crop fields, and iron working didn't become prominent in the US until the industrial revolution about 10 years after the Civil War. I cannot say I'm 100% certain, but the others to me don't seem to make sense when looking at the situation.

What are some negative things about Andrew Jackson
gizmo_the_mogwai [7]
The major negative thing Andrew Jackson is remembered for is the forced relocation of many Native Americans, particularly in the southeastern portion of the United States. He also triggered an economic depression by refusing to renew the charter of the Second Bank of the United States and then instituting inflation-control policies that triggered a panic, but that was primarily blamed on his successor, Martin Van Buren.
