Razia Sultan was the first female Muslim ruler in Delhi from 1236 to 1240. This position of power had never been attained by a woman before and Razia had refused to be addressed as Sultana (per her gender) as that word meant "wife or mistress of a Sultan." Nobles could not accept Razia as Sultan as they found it to be shameful to work under her because she is a woman.

In short, people did not like her because she was a woman; they were not willing to accept a woman as a ruler/a woman in a position of power
