The graph of a line goes through the points (-4,3) and (6,8). What is the equation of the line in slope-intercept form? Enter th
alexgriva [62]

Answer:

y= ½ x + 5

Step-by-step explanation:

(-4,3)  \:  (6,8).  \\ x_1 =  - 4 \\ y_1 = 3  \\ x_2 = 6

y_2 = 8  \\   \frac{y - y_1}{x - x_1}  =  \frac{y_2 -y_1}{x_2 - x_1}

\frac{y - 3}{x - ( - 4)}  =  \frac{8 - 3}{6 - ( - 4)}  =  \frac{y - 3}{x + 4}  =  \frac{5}{10}

10(y - 3) = 5(x + 4)  \\ 10y - 30 = 5x + 20 \:  \\ 10y = 5x + 20 + 30 = 10y = 5x + 50 \\

\frac{10y}{10}  =  \frac{5}{10} x +  \frac{50}{10}   \\ y =  \frac{1}{2} x + 5
