A secretary was making name tags. She made each name tag from an index card which was cut into ¼ s. How many name tags can the s

ecretary make with 2 index cards?
A. 8 Since each card will be cut into 1/4s and there are four 1/4s in 1 we can multiply 4 by two since there are two index cards to get the total number of name tags she can make.

B. 2 ¼ The secretary has two index cards and cuts them into 1/4s. We can combine the whole number of cards with the fraction she will cut them into to get the number she will have when done.

C. 3/8 Since we have a fraction she will cut them into and a whole number of cards we need to get two fractions. By putting 2 over 4 we can add directly across.

D. ½ To get the total number of name tags the secretary can make out of two index cards we need to multiply the total number of index cards by the fraction she is going to cut them into.

Solve for m. <br>5m + 3m - 8 = 64<br> a m = 9<br> b m = 2<br> c m = -2 <br>d m = 5
Vesnalui [34]

Answer:

\boxed{ \bold{ \huge{ \boxed{ \sf{m = 9}}}}}

Option A is the correct option

Step-by-step explanation:

\sf{5m + 3m - 8 = 64}

Collect like terms

⇒\sf{8m - 8 = 64}

Move 8 to right hand side and change it's sign

⇒\sf{8m = 64 + 8}

Add the numbers

⇒\sf{8m = 72}

Divide both sides of the equation by 8

⇒\sf{ \frac{8m}{8}  =  \frac{72}{8} }

Calculate

⇒\sf{m = 9}

Hope I helped!

Best regards!!
